Telling Stories, finding Homes
Emily Cisewski has always been a dog lover. Growing up, she had two chocolate labs and was usually pet sitting all of the dogs in her neighborhood.
Today, she has two dogs: a shaded cream mini daschund named Lucy and a boykin spaniel Austrailian cattle dog named Bear. Her dogs are both the chaos and the calm in her life. They've gotten her through some dark times which is one reason why Emily is such a huge advocate for shelter dogs.
Emily regularly volunteers at the local animal shelter, Charleston Animal Society, where she meets adoptable dogs and puts together videos of them for social media. The goal is to get the dogs more exposure, show off their personality and quirks, and sometimes educate you or make you laugh or cry.
Her passion for helping disadvantaged dogs also led Emily to start researching and speaking on animal testing on dogs, specifically research lab beagles.
She shares a lot of information she learns about dogs, both shelter and research, in her substack (https://substack.com/@emilycisewski)
